Mystics vs Storm predictions
As the Washington Mystics head into Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Seattle Storm, I'm curious to see how their top performers will fare. Ariel Atkins, their leading scorer with 14.4 points per game, will need to have a strong outing if the Mystics hope to snag their first win of the season. Given the Storm's shaky defense, I think Atkins can capitalize on some scoring opportunities and drop around 18-20 points. Meanwhile, Julie Vanloo, the team's top playmaker, will need to be sharp with her distribution to get the Mystics' offense humming. I'm thinking she'll dish out around 7-8 assists to try and get her teammates involved.
On the other side, the Seattle Storm is riding high after Jewell Loyd's 32-point explosion in their last game. Nneka Ogwumike, their star forward, has been a force to be reckoned with, averaging 22 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. I anticipate her to have another double-double performance, possibly with 20-10 or better. Skylar Diggins-Smith, the team's primary playmaker, is usually good for around 5-6 assists per game, and I think she'll hit that mark again in this contest. The Storm's offense is looking potent, and with Loyd and Ogwumike leading the charge, they're formidable opponents.
Considering the Storm's current form and the Mystics' winless record, it's hard not to favor Seattle in this matchup. While the Mystics have some talented players, the Storm's offense is simply more potent right now. I think the Storm will take this one by around 10 points, with their high-powered offense proving too much for the Mystics to handle. What do you think, folks?
