Storm vs Mystics predictions
As the Seattle Storm heads to the Entertainment & Sports Arena to take on the Washington Mystics, I'm expecting a big game from Nneka Ogwumike. Despite being listed as day-to-day with an injury, I think she'll be ready to go and make a significant impact. With 22 points per game under her belt, I'm projecting her to drop around 20 points and grab 9 rebounds against the Mystics. Skylar Diggins-Smith, the Storm's dynamic guard, should also have a solid outing, dishing out around 6 assists and scoring 15 points. If the Storm can get this kind of production from their leaders, they'll be tough to beat.
On the other side of the court, the Washington Mystics are looking to bounce back from a tough start to the season. I think Ariel Atkins will be the key to their success, as she's been the team's leading scorer so far this year. Look for her to put up around 16 points and grab 4 rebounds. Julie Vanloo, the Mystics' top playmaker, should also have a solid game, dishing out 5 assists and scoring 10 points. If Shakira Austin can make a speedy recovery from her injury, her presence in the paint could give the Storm trouble, but even without her, the Mystics have the talent to hang with Seattle.
So, who's going to come out on top in this non-conference matchup? Based on the Storm's firepower and the Mystics' struggles so far this season, I'm projecting a Seattle win. The Storm's offense has been clicking, and I think they'll be able to exploit the Mystics' defense. Look for Seattle to take this one by around 7 points, with a final score of 85-78. Of course, anything can happen in the WNBA, but I think the Storm have the advantage in this one. What do you think? Are the Mystics ready to pull off an upset, or will the Storm's star power be too much for them?
