Yankees vs Padres predictions

As the New York Yankees take on the San Diego Padres, I'm expecting big things from some of their star players. Aaron Judge, in particular, is due for a breakout game, and I wouldn't be surprised if he belts a home run or two. With a .309 batting average, Juan Soto should continue to be a force at the plate, and I predict he'll rack up at least a couple of RBIs. Meanwhile, Anthony Rizzo's power at the plate should give the Padres' pitching staff fits, and I think he'll come through with a clutch hit or two. With Oswaldo Cabrera and Gleyber Torres also looking strong at the plate, the Yankees' offense is poised for a big day.

On the other side, the Padres will be relying on their own stars to come through. Luis Arraez has been a machine at the plate, and I think he'll continue to get on base with regularity, setting the table for the Padres' power hitters. Speaking of which, Manny Machado is due for a big game, and I wouldn't be shocked if he leaves the yard. Meanwhile, Jake Cronenworth's speed and versatility make him a threat on the basepaths, and I think he'll be involved in a key play or two. With Fernando Tatis Jr. also looking to break out of a mini-slump, the Padres' offense is capable of putting up some big numbers.

Overall, this one shapes up to be a high-scoring affair, but in the end, I think the Yankees' potent offense will prove too much for the Padres. The Bombers have been rolling lately, and I predict they'll take this one 8-5, behind a strong outing from Clarke Schmidt and timely hitting from Judge, Soto, and Rizzo. Of course, the Padres are capable of making it close, but ultimately, I think the Yankees' superior firepower will be the difference-maker.
